Some might say that your past is your past and that once it has come to fruition, it is time to leave it behind. I on the other hand am still quite attached to who I once was, and am still sort of wishing that her limitless dreams and wishes come true. For that reason I share her work, because I am sure she would have wanted it up on our website. :)
Rejection
Rejection tastes funny
It is not quite as sour as I thought it would be
The aftertaste lasts longer than the initial bite
Bitter but manageable
Circling your system
Never quite coming out
Heartbreak
You took away the easy way
The golf putt in the hole
Leaving me to defend the sea
With the heart you stole
The Spotlight
Some people run away from the spotlight.
I dabble near his warm shining pool,
Testing the judging waters,
Before I dance around his stone-cold face,
Weaving in and out of fluid motions.
I tremble as I near his body,
Hearing his chuckling treble laugh,
But continue shining in his light,
Helplessly nearing blinding radiance.
He whispers to me in my ear.
And I laugh with him,
Drinking in his cool judging gaze,
Impressing him with my measured narcissism.
Everyone knows a love like ours cannot last.
Which is why, dearest darling,
Some people run away from the spotlight.
Only A Bear
I knew she didn’t want me
From the way she lifted up my leg like a crane,
Flinging me in the air.
I am still dented from grubby hands.
Flinging is no way to treat a bear.
She looked at me.
Her face turned red like an expanding crimson balloon.
Shaking her dark brown silky hair,
She inspected me
And cried, “Mommy this isn’t fair.”
As she drove me onto the hardwood floor,
I looked at her,
And she glanced at me, unaware
Of what damage her little crying fit
Had caused to a lonely teddy bear.
